Strengthening Cooperation and Seeking Common Development
-- Asia Foundry Forum 2010 successfully held in Beijing
The First Asia Foundry Forum 2010, focusing upon the theme of ¡°Asian Foundry: Strengthening Cooperation and Seeking Common development¡±, has been successfully held by China Foundry Association (CFA) in Beijing, on May 10, 2010. Over 150 delegates from 14 countries and regions have attended this Forum. Mr. Zhang Libo, Exec. Vice president and secretary-general of CFA, presides over the opening ceremony of the Forum, and Mr. Jia Chengbing, president of CFA, delivers an opening speech.
The aim of Asia Foundry Forum is to strengthening the communication and cooperation among Asian foundry industries, seeking common development, and enhancing the cooperation among different countries, regions and members. Presently, global economy has been rapidly integrated, also regional cooperation has been intensified. Now Asian foundry industry is experiencing an unprecedented rate of development, the annual output of castings has surpassed 50% of global casting output. Therefore, the Forum, centered upon the concept of ¡°communication, cooperation, development and strengthening of Asian foundry industry¡±, endeavors to unite Asian foundry industries, promote its overall international competitiveness and ensure its sustainable, healthy and harmonious development.
During the one-day Forum, various experts in foundry industry from different countries make a detailed analysis of several hot topics, such as how to meet challenges and seize the developing opportunity in the period of global economic recovery; how to realize the sustainable development on the premise of environment protection. The Forum ends in the harmonious atmosphere of academic exchange. The experts present at the Forum freely vie to express their views and speak out their thoughts. All of them make efforts to offer their insightful suggestions as for the future development of Asian foundry industry. Besides, representatives from 10 foundry organizations and institutes give intelligent reports.
Among these 10 reports, consultant of CFA, Mr. Zhao Lixin points out in his Overview and Development Trend in China Foundry Industry, how to ensure the sound, orderly and sustainable development of various countries and regions is an urgent issue for foundrymen both at home and abroad. President of Japan Foundry Society, Kanetake Nakatani emphasizes that now Japan is in a turning-point. For foundry industry, how to get rid of the dependence on automobile industry is a vital point. Former president of the Institute of Indian Foudnrymen, Subodh Panchal notes that innovation is of utmost importance, and the future development cannot be predicted on the basis of yesterday¡¯s experiences. Associate research fellow of Taiwan Institute of Economic Research, Darson Chiu indicates from a macro-perspective, that Asian economy is in close attach with the global economy. Honorary life-president of Hong Kong Diecasting and Foundry Association, Wing-Ching Keung asserts that the regional characteristic of China foundry industry is distinguished, and several foundry industry clusters have been formed, which can be considered as an important means for making China foundry industry stronger.
Senior research fellow of Korean Institute of Industrial Technology Mr. Shae K. Kim, president of Mongolian Metallurgical Association, Mr. Tsedev Munkhjargal, vice president of Vietnam Foundry & Metallurgy Association Mr. Phung Viet Ngu, president of Pakistan Foundry Association Mr. Sikandar Mustafa Khan introduce the development of their country¡¯s foundry industry respectively. They unanimously express the wish to seek a sustainable development strategy on the basis of regional cooperation. President of CEMAFON, Mr. Gabriele Galante thoroughly presents his association¡¯s main task and function to every one present. He explains that the enhancement of Asian foundry industry is sure to be the long-term aim of win-win strategy.
The delegates present all agree that after the global economic crisis in 2008, now Asian foundry industry shows a sign of recovery. This recovering rate varies according to different countries, China and India are among the most powerful. However, compared with European countries and America, there does exist large gaps in terms of craft, technology, environment protection, management and talents training. In order to achieve the sustainable development of Asian foundry industry, regional cooperation, structural adjustment, development pattern research and experience exchanging are urgently called for.
The Forum is organized by China Foundry Association, Japan Foundry Society, The Institute of Indian Foundrymen, The Korean Foundrymen's Society, Mongolian Metallurgical Association, Taiwan Casting Industry Association, Hong Kong Diecasting and Foundry Association. Meanwhile, this Forum successfully draws the supports from CEMAFON, Pakistan Foundry Association, Philippines Metalcasting Association, Vietnam Foundry & Metallurgy Association, Korea Foundry Cooperative Association, Korea Die Casting Association and media abroad and domestic. The organizers also visit the 2010 China International Foundry Expo and related foundry enterprises. Asia Foundry Forum is a high-level platform for dialogue, communication, cooperation among Asian governments, foundry organizations, academia and other Continents¡¯ counterparts. The permanent secretariat is located in Beijing (CFA), and the Forum will be held every two years. Asia Foundry Forum 2012 will be sponsored by The Institute of Indian Foundrymen. |
